The government have announced a delay with the introduction of the new aged care Support at Home program. Support at Home was expected to commence on 1 July. It is now scheduled to commence on 1 November 2025.
The change does allow providers more time to:
- prepare for the upcoming changes to ICT systems, training of staff and communication artefacts
- support older people, staff and governing members with preparing for the new system, obligations and responsibilities
- helping older people to understand the new Statement of Rights and co-contribution payments
Home Care Packages will continue with existing processes for budgets, and funding allocation. Eligible older persons will continue to be assessed and assigned Home Care Package levels. There will be no changes to this system until 1 November.
